What the numbers mean
Private equity labels come only from the CMS SNF All Owners column PRIVATE EQUITY COMPANY - OWNER = Y on the selected parent organization.
We never infer PE ownership from company names.

Methodology
A facility counts as PE-linked only when its selected parent organization has organizations.is_private_equity = true.
That flag is copied from CMS PRIVATE EQUITY COMPANY - OWNER = Y. It is never inferred from names.
Percentages use all nursing homes in the state denominator, including homes without a linked parent.
Limits
CMS discloses PE on specific owner rows. Our parent-selection rules pick one organizational parent per facility.
A facility can have PE somewhere in a broader ownership web without that PE entity being the selected parent.
