Why this site exists
When someone you love suddenly needs care, you get about two weeks to learn an industry that takes professionals years. You do it while grieving, working, and fielding opinions from everyone in the family.
The biggest sites in this industry make money by selling your phone number to the facilities that pay them. That's why they make you "unlock" prices. That's why their advisors push certain communities. The price isn't hidden because it's complicated. It's hidden because your contact info is the product.
We built ElderCareCosts to be the other kind of site.
What we do
- We publish the real cost of senior care by care type, by state, and by city, with the source and date on every number.
- We list every licensed provider we can source from government records, not just the ones that pay. Star ratings, inspection results, and ownership records included, even when they're unflattering.
- We explain every way families actually pay: Medicaid, veterans benefits, insurance, and what happens when the money runs out.
What we don't do
- We don't hide prices behind forms.
- We don't have commissioned advisors.
- We don't remove providers for bad inspection results, and we don't let anyone pay to bury them.
Who writes this site
ElderCareCosts is produced by our research desk using public government data: CMS, state licensing agencies, and the Census Bureau. We use modern data tools, including AI systems that work under strict sourcing rules. No claim gets published without a citation to a primary source. Each page documents how it was built, and our methodology covers the details. When we get something wrong, we say so: corrections policy.
We are not doctors, lawyers, or financial advisors, and we don't pretend to be. This site is for information. Big decisions deserve a professional who knows your situation.
