What respite can cost in Vermont
Respite is short-term relief for a family caregiver, not a separate facility class with its own national price survey. The ranges below are derived from published Vermont figures for in-home care, adult day, and assisted living. They are planning estimates, not quotes.
- In-home respite: about $45/hour from the local in-home monthly median (44 hrs/week survey standard). Roughly $360 for an 8-hour day, or $1,800 for a 40-hour week.
- Facility short-stay (AL slice): about $287/day (local assisted-living monthly ÷ 30), or about $2,009 for a week. Communities often bill a higher short-stay rate; ask before booking.
Method: divide published monthly medians into hourly/daily slices as above. Full notes on our methodology page.
