Nursing Home Admission and Medicaid Timing
Many admissions start on Medicare skilled nursing days or private pay, then transition toward Medicaid if financial and medical rules are met.
The basics
Medicare skilled nursing coverage is time-limited and rule-bound; it is not the same as long-term custodial Medicaid.
Ask the facility business office which payer is billed each week and what Medicaid paperwork they need from you.
