Does Medicare Pay for Assisted Living?
Medicare generally does not cover assisted living room and board or ongoing custodial help with daily activities.
The basics
Medicare may still cover doctor visits, hospital care, or short skilled nursing or home health when its rules are met. Separate from the assisted living rent.
If you need help paying for assisted living, look at private pay, long-term care insurance, state Medicaid waiver options, or VA benefits when they apply.
