Does Medicaid pay for a nursing home in this state?

Medicaid nursing facility coverage is available when someone meets the state's level-of-care and financial eligibility rules. Income and asset tests are state-specific.

CMS reports that for 2026 the SSI federal benefit rate is $994 per month for an individual, and many states adopt a special income level for institutional eligibility capped at 300 percent of that rate ($2,982 per month).
