Assisted Living vs Respite Care
Assisted living is usually an ongoing residential arrangement with a care plan and monthly fees.
Not medical advice. This page compares cost and logistics. It does not diagnose, treat, or recommend clinical care; talk with a clinician about health decisions.
Where they differ
Respite is a short stay (or short block of hours) meant to relieve the usual caregiver.
Some communities offer respite or trial stays. Ask about length limits, pricing, and whether it converts to a permanent move-in.
