Caregiver Pay Estimator

Some states let a family member get paid through a consumer-directed Medicaid or HCBS program. We have researched official state programs for 25 states. Every figure links to the state's own page. Eligibility is always decided by the state, never by us.

Nebraska

Personal Assistance Services (PAS) — self-directed independent-provider option

Re-verified 2026-07-26 by direct quote fetched from the official dhhs.ne.gov Medicaid Home and Community-Based Programs page: "Yes, as long as the family member is not legally responsible for you. A spouse or the parent/guardian of a minor child cannot be paid providers." Confirms adult children and other non-legally-responsible relatives are eligible.

Also: Aged and Disabled (AD) Waiver - Nebraska DHHS states the AD Waiver itself does NOT offer traditional self-direction; self-direction is via State Plan PAS instead

Eligibility, dollar amounts, and application steps are set by the state and can change. Only Nebraska's own program can confirm eligibility. This is not an eligibility determination.
