Respite is short-term relief for a family caregiver. No survey prices it on its own, so the estimates below are worked out from Florida prices for in-home care, adult day and assisted living.
- In-home respite: about $32/hour from the local in-home care median at 44 hours a week. Roughly $256 for an 8-hour day, or $1,280 for a 40-hour week.
- Adult day respite: about $81/day (monthly adult-day median ÷ 20 program days), or about $405 for a five-day week.
- Short stay in assisted living: about $187/day (local assisted-living monthly ÷ 30), or about $1,309 for a week. Communities often bill a higher short-stay rate; ask before booking.
